Gor Mahia got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Mathare United in a Kenya Premier League match played on Sunday afternoon.
Frank Odhiambo scored the only goal of the match in the 56th minute to ensure the former champions halted a run of four games without a win.
The Slum Boys, on the other hand, have now lost 10 games this season, winning two and drawing one from their opening 13 fixtures.
The win saw Gor move fifth on the standings on 22 points, six off league leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, who have played one match more.

In another match, defending champions Tusker FC suffered a surprise 1-0 loss at the hands of Posta Rangers in Thika.
Bernard Ondiek scored Rangers’ lone goal in the 57th minute, and it proved all-important in the end.
The Brewers though were unlucky on a number of occasions with the likes of Brian Marita and John Njuguna all coming close.
This was Rangers’ second win in a row, and it moved them to sixth on the standings on 21 points.
Robert Matano’s Brewers, on the other hand, remain in the bottom half of the table on 16 points.
Meanwhile, Eugene Mukangula rescued a point for AFC Leopards as they played out a 1-1 draw against Nzoia Sugar.
The visitors took a seventh-minute lead through Kevin Juma before the Leopards pulled level just after the half-hour minute.
