“A new era!” – Chelsea fans react to Graham Potter announcement as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement – Football.London

Chelsea have announced that Graham Potter is the club’s new head coach after Thomas Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday morning.

Potter had been given permission by Brighton to speak to the Blues with positive talks having been held in London on Wednesday evening, football.london understands. Tuchel was sacked after tensions had grown between the German and co-owner Todd Boehly following the American’s £4billion takeover at Stamford Bridge.

Potter arrived at Cobham on Thursday afternoon to conclude the legal formalities with Chelsea, confirming the former Brighton boss has signed a five-year deal with the west London outfit. Brighton have released a statement following the news thanking Potter for his time with the Seagulls.

Chelsea fans have reacted to the news of Potter’s appointment on social media, welcoming the English manager to Stamford Bridge as a new era begins at Stamford Bridge. Co-owner Todd Boehly said in a statement: “We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club.

“Not only is he extremely talented on the pitch, but he also has skills and capabilities that extend beyond the pitch, which will make Chelsea a more successful Club.
