Winner of 2018 Ghana Football Awards’ Women’s Footballer of the Year, Princella Adubea made the presentation of this year’s award to Black Maidens skipper Mukarama Abdulai.
It was an outstanding show of sportsmanship when the former Black Princesses vice skipper, Adubea climbed the stage to hand to Mukarama the Women’s Footballer of the Year award.
Princella, almost a year ago had helped Ampem Darkoa Ladies to the second National Women’s League title, scored 12 goals to qualify the Black Princesses to the world cup and leading the goal queen chart in the 2017-18 NWL.
Mukarama Abdulai ended the night with two accolades; the Future Star of Year award and the Women’s Footballer of the Year following her stellar show at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup held in Uruguay.
The Northern Ladies attacker finished the tournament as the top scorer with 7 goals and as the third best player of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup which were enough for her to beat off competition from Grace Animah to the Future star award and brushed aside competition from Janet Egyir and Grace Asantewaa to the Women’s Footballer of the Year award.
The colourful event was held at the Accra Mariot Hotel and other female football stars such as Blessing Agbomadzie and Fafali Dumehasi of Black Princesses and Black Queens fame also graced the occasion.
