Alex Telles makes defiant vow to Manchester United fans after suffering injury in training – Manchester Evening News

Alex Telles has vowed he will ‘come back stronger’ after suffering an injury during Manchester United’s pre-season training camp.

The Brazilian full-back had big hopes for the upcoming season, after a debut season at Old Trafford which saw him make just nine Premier League appearances.

Telles looked to be fit and fired-up during the first weeks of United’s pre-season but the 28 year old suffered a setback during the camp based in Surrey.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed he picked up an ankle injury which meant he missed United’s 4-2 friendly loss to Championship side Queens Park Rangers at the weekend.

The manager told United’s official website: “Unfortunately, Alex slipped and he twisted his ankle so he’ll be out for a few weeks. We’re hoping that it’s not going to be too bad but he’ll be out for a little while.”

The full-back is now facing the possibility of being unavailable for the start of the season, with United facing rivals Leeds on August 14.

Telles has received plenty of messages of support from United fans and he took to Instagram to thank people for their comments.

He said: “Nothing happens by chance, nothing comes to bring us down, but to make us evolve and mature. Thanks for everyone’s messages.

“You can be sure that I’ll come back stronger and even more focused. The change in me will be big. Wait for it.”

His post has received messages of support from his United teammates including Bruno Fernandes who commented that he is “together” with the Brazilian.

Jesse Lingard wrote: “Back stronger brother,” while Diogo Dalot added “let’s go brother.”
