Arsenal fans have changed their minds about Edu’s £24m transfer decision after Tottenham win – Football.London

Aaron Ramsdale is forcing a few Arsenal fans to have a change of heart.

The £24m summer signing from Sheffield United had quite an eventful first taste of a North London Derby as the Gunners ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.

Goals from Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka did all the damage in the first-half, whilst Son Heung-min pulled one back for the visitors who then came close to setting up a tense finale.

Lucas Moura’s effort looked like it was looping in, only for Ramsdale to divert the ball onto the crossbar with a brilliant fingertip save.

And that stop came at a crucial time.

Had Lucas’ deflected effort gone in and made it 3-2, there would have been a tense final five or so minutes in store for Arsenal to hold off Spurs’ search for an equaliser.

One could argue that Ramsdale‘s save was just as important as the pass he played to Granit Xhaka which in turn lead to the Gunners going 2-0 up through Aubameyang.

Despite the Switzerland midfielder being put under severe pressure by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg near the edge of his own box, Ramsdale still played the risky pass and the reward, in the end, was a goal.

Although, Spurs legend Ledley King was adamant that Xhaka fouled Hojbjerg before releasing the ball to Kieran Tierney.

“I don’t think Xhaka gets any of the ball there, I think it is a foul,” King argued on Sky Sports. “From here, its Aubameyang who hangs back and scuffs his shot but Arsenal players running past Tottenham players.”

What is not in doubt is the quality of Ramsdale’s save to deny Lucas.

Furthermore, given how impressive the England international has been early on in his Gunners career, some fans are now having a change of heart for questioning his price-tag during the summer.

Take a look at what’s been said on Twitter…
