That’s all for today
We’re going to call time on today’s Arsenal blog here, folks.
Thank you for joining us today. We shall be back to do it all over again tomorrow. Take care.
Lokonga in training
Tony Cascarino thinks Tammy Abraham should leave Chelsea this summer for the good of his own career amid links to Arsenal.
Tammy is a player who a lot of clubs will want. Whether it’s a loan deal, I’m pretty sure Chelsea will want a big deal elsewhere.
They’ll probably want £40m or £50m for him, which might be a big ask in the present climate. But Tammy’s got to play. It’s a big issue if you just sit it out. He’s ended up going down the pecking order.
He wasn’t even in some of the squads at the end of the season was he.
£32m for Ramsdale
Signing Aaron Ramsdale will be an expensive one.
Ruben Neves has already given his opinion on Manchester United amid rumours linking the Arsenal transfer ‘target’ with a move to Old Trafford.
It’s always good, playing against our team-mates from the international team.
I know him [Fernandes] very well, I’m really happy for him. He’s in a great club in a fantastic league. He can now show everyone what he can do. There is a lot because he’s a great player. I’m really happy for him.
Maddison swap deal
Arsenal fans have been reacting to reports that Leicester City are one of several clubs interested in signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Amid reports that the Gunners are hoping to include the 23-year-old in a swap deal to sign James Maddison, there’s a theory that an exchange can happen.
Arsenal can use Bayern Munich’s own transfer trick against them
Arsenal have reportedly been interested in signing Leon Goretzka in the past and the latest developments regarding the German could put the north Londoners on red alert.
According to Sport Bild and Jan Aage Fjortoft, Goretzka ‘s representatives have become ‘irritated’ with how negotiations over a new contract with the Bundesliga champions are going.
Goretzka signed a pre-contract agreement with Bayern in January 2018 and if nothing is solved before the January transfer window, then he will be free to talk to clubs over a pre-contract agreement at the start of 2022.
Jordan Henderson’s future at Liverpool is a hot topic at the moment with the England midfielder’s contract situation uncertain.
It could alert some potential suitors – with Arsenal emerging as one.
Thanks to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, the type of player Arsenal would be getting if they signed Henderson has been explained.
A very fit, athletic boy who’s selfless in his approach on the pitch, puts everyone else above himself.
When you play alongside him you appreciate the job he does for the team and I think over the years he’s been developing parts of his game. His passing range now is fantastic.
Interest in Maitland-Niles
As Juventus have been struggling to reach an agreement with Sassuolo over the transfer of Manuel Locatelli, they could target some alternatives.
According to L’Equipe, Juve are now targeting a move for Bayern Munich midfielder, Corentin Tolisso.
Have the Serie A giants admitted defeat? Is this a boost for the Gunners?
Moller loan deal to be confirmed
Arsenal youngster Nikolaj Moller will join German side FC Viktoria Koln on a one-year loan deal, football.london can reveal.
Moller has impressed since arriving from Swedish club Malmo and it’s understood he turned down moves to clubs in higher divisions after being guaranteed game time at Viktoria Koln.
Whilst Arsenal are apparently preparing to make an offer for Aaron Ramsdale, they could still turn their attentions back to Andre Onana.
This is because reports in the Netherlands claim his transfer to Lyon becoming very complicated.
Ajax want €10m but Lyon do not want to go more than €3m, so could the Gunners swoop in?
Man Utd have moved ahead of Arsenal in the race to signRuben Neves.
That is according to talkSPORT.
Wolves are willing to sell the Portugal international for a fee of £35m, but the Gunners appear to have fallen behind.
Abraham given the all clear
Chelsea have given striker Tammy Abraham the green light to leave the club this summer and join Arsenal.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are prepared to let the former Aston Villa loanee leave on loan for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign. However, he will only leave on a temporary basis so long that a £40 million obligation-to-buy clause is agreed upon.
Ramsdale bid planned
Arsenak are lining up a £30million bid for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to talkSPORT.
The Gunners are desperate to add a new goalkeeper to their ranks this summer and have identified Ramsdale as their No.1 target.
The Gunners have pinpointed Ramsdale as a better option than West Brom’s Sam Johnstone.
Willian wants out
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal winger Willian wishes to leave the club.
Despite joining the Gunners just 11 months ago, the Brazilian is keen to secure an exit after having struggled to make an impact.
Arsenal are open to selling him.
Xhaka deal close
Roma hope to wrap up a deal to sign Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka within ‘the next few hours.’
That is according to a report by Corriere dello Sport, who report that Roma are ready to wrap it up.
Xhaka’s move to the Italian giants has been in the offing for several weeks, but the fee has proven to be problematic. Now, though, Roma hope to get it done after finally reaching an agreement.
Neto happy to choose
Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are being closely linked with a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, according to reports.
Barcelona are keen to offload him this summer and the north London duo have taken a liking to him.
Unlike most transfer battles, Neto has no preference over which club he joins, meaning the Gunners or Spurs could come out on top.
Bellerin pushes for exit
According to Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal have been ‘stunned’ by the fact that Hector Bellerin has ruled out the possibility of signing a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The defender is poised to leave Arsenal this summer, but the manner of his departure is proving difficult. Arsenal would like to offload him on a permanent basis whilst Inter Milan would like to take him on loan.
This has led to a stalemate and Bellerin is, it would appear, refusing to have plans to stay with the club.
Gunners plot double swoop
With Arsenal keen on signing both James Maddison of Leicester City and Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, the Gunners could make it a highly successful double.
Maddison, Arsenal hope to sign on a permanent deal, although finances will dictate their chances, whilst there is talk that they could sign Abraham on loan.
Arsenal face Locatelli challenge
According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are losing the battle to sign Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli this summer.
The Gunners are in direction competition with Juventus to sign the Italian star and the battle is proving difficult for both.
Juventus are struggling because of their financial situation and Arsenal are facing an uphill battle because Locatelli wants to join Juventus. Locatelli’s personal wishes could all but end the Gunners’ chances.
Madrid make Odegaard decison
Although it already seemed unlikely that Martin Odegaard would return to Arsenal this summer, their hopes of signing him again are now as good as over.
That is because, according to AS in Spain, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has decided that he will be a key figure within his plan in the forthcoming campaign.
Ancelotti reportedly sees him, Gareth Bale and Dani Ceballos as new signings and are all set to feature in his plans.
Gunners come up with Maddison plan
Arsenal are prepared to offer Leicester City one of their fringe players, plus cash, in the hope that they can convince them to sell James Maddison.
According to reports, the Gunners could use either Ainsley Maitland-Niles or Reiss Nelson in an attempt to lure Maddison to the Emirates Stadium.
The Foxes are understood to want £60million for the midfielder’s services, but they hope that Nelson or Maitland-Niles could sweeten the deal and reduce the asking price.
Chelsea are ready to let striker Tammy Abraham join Arsenal on loan, according to reports.
The Gunners have been closely linked with the England striker in the past week or so and it is now claimed that they could land him on a temporary basis.
Abraham is expected to leave Chelsea this summer, but it was always felt it would be on a permanent basis, opposed to being loaned out once more.
Houssem Aouar has once again been linked with a move to Arsenal.
It didn’t happen last summer for financial reasons, so one transfer that could help the Gunners finally fund a deal for the Frenchman is the likely departure of Granit Xhaka, who has been linked heavily with a move to Italy to join up with Jose Mourinho at AS Roma.
So what would the 2021/22 season look like if Aouar were to make the switch to Arsenal?
Well, we ‘signed’ the 23-year-old for Arsenal on Football Manager to find out exactly what the results would be.
Find out what happened by clicking right here.
Arsenal are plotting a formal offer for 23-year-old Sheffield United star Aaron Ramsdale.
That is according to The Express who claim that the Gunners will launch a bid for the England international this month.
Sheffield United are said to value the goalkeeper at £20m but won’t play hardball during negotiations.
Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States has been cancelled.
As reported by The Athletic, the reason for the decision is because there has been some COVID-19 cases in the Gunners’ camp.
Arsenal are now said to be working through alternate plans to complete their pre-season schedule, but this development is hardly the best preparation ahead of the new Premier League season that begins in less than a month with a trip to Brentford.
Arsenal favourites to sign Henderson
Arsenal have emerged as favourites with bookmakers Coral to sign Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson this summer.
The midfielder is facing uncertainty over his future at Anfield as he approaches the final two years of his current contract and there has been speculation that he could leave amid talk of an impasse in negotiations over a new deal.
If he does leave, a surprise switch to Arsenal could be on the cards, Coral seem to think.
Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said:
Jordan Henderson is now into the last two years of his current contract at Liverpool.
And if and when he does move on, Arsenal are our favourites to sign the midfielder.
