With the start of the new Premier League season now just five weeks away, the Gunners are in a race against time to get those all-important summer signings through the door so that they can familiarise themselves with their new surroundings ahead of the serious business getting under way.
Although the Gunners are yet to complete any new signings this summer, they are poised to be one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs, perhaps even the busiest.
It is understood that the deals to bring Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares and Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga to the Emirates Stadium are edging closer and closer to being completed, meaning those two are almost certain to become manager Mikel Arteta’s first new additions.
As well as hoping to land those two, the Gunners also hope to wrap up the signing of Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White.

Smith Rowe update
Just the news every Arsenal fan wants to hear.
It’s official, Arthur Okonkwo has signed a new long-term contract.
He’s even got a new shirt number and a first-team promotion.
Tavares at London Colney
Mari loan deal
Turkish giants Besiktas are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal centre-back Pablo Mari.
AS report that they want to sign the Gunners defender on loan for the duration of the 2021/22 campaign.
It is claimed that Mari is considering the opportunity as it would hand him the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League.
All or Nothing reaction
With Arsenal not in Europe next season and coming off back-to-back eighth-placed finishes in the Premier League, the ‘All or Nothing’ series is bound to be a fascinating watch.
And judging by the response on social media, Gunners fans can’t wait.
Whether it’s a nervous energy or pure excitement, many have had their say on this major announcement
Ruben Neves contract
Arsenal have reportedly offered Ruben Neves a contract.
With a deal to sign Manuel Locatellli looking unlikely, the Gunners are now turning their attentions back to the Wolves star in an attempt to find Thomas Partey’s perfect midfield partner.
Wolves are set to sell the Portuguese international this summer and journalist Nicolo Schira claims the Gunners have offered him a five-year deal.
All that’s left is to agree a fee.
Aouar’s best position
Houssem Aouar has explained where he sees his best position on the pitch, amid renewed speculation that he could join Arsenal this summer.
The coach allows me a lot of freedom on the pitch. Playing on the left allows me to make more of a difference individually.
I can also change the game by playing in the middle. I like having this freedom a lot. I have a lot of fun on the wing.
All or Nothing announcement
Arsenal will be the next instalment of Amazon Prime Video’s popular sports doc franchise All Or Nothing.
Filming will begin right away, offering fans a unique insight into how the 2021/22 season develops.
As confirmed by Deadline, the series will launch exclusively on Prime in 2022.
Get ready, Arsenal fans.
Brendan Rodgers and Philippe Coutinho could be set for a reunion that might just be fantastic news for Arsenal.
If the Brazilian was to join Leicester City in the current window, it could boost the Gunners chances of signing James Maddison.
Whilst Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the 24-year-old, the one major sticking point for getting a deal done is the Foxes’ demands of over £60million.
But could Leicester’s stance be softened if they were to bring in a direct replacement for Maddison?
Things spotted in pre-season training
The hard work for the 2021/22 season has officially begun at the club’s London Colney training base.
The first-team squad reported back for pre-season training on Wednesday and here are four things we spotted from the training session.
Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti has pleaded with Lorenzo Insigne to stay at least another season amid reported transfer interest from Arsenal.
I speak well of Insigne, I spoke to him on the phone (and) congratulated him after a goal scored in the national team.
I told him I would like to take this journey with him by my side.
Guido Rodriguez update
Despite reports elsewhere, Arsenal have not tabled a bid for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
The Argentine has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for a couple of months and reports in Spain previously claimed that the Gunners had lodged an official bid for his services.
However, according to Estadio Deportivo, no formal approach has been made as of yet.
Tierney’s new role
Kieran Tierney could be used as a central defender in a back-three if Arsenal successfully complete the signing of Nuno Tavares.
That is according to former Gunners midfielder Michael Thomas.
Right now we are expecting the announcement of Nuno Tavares from Benfica.
I don’t know too much about Tavares to be honest, but from what I have seen and heard he’s a very exciting prospect, especially in an attacking sense.
He is young and I can see him playing more often when Arteta switches to a back 3 and drops Tierney into the 3rd centre-back
Reports coming out of Belgium claim Albert Sambi Lokonga will undergo his Arsenal today before sealing his transfer next week.
White deal edging closer
Despite reports linking Ben White with a move to both Chelsea and Manchester City in the last few days, Arsenal remain confident that they will win the race for the Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back.
That is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who insists the defender is moving closer and closer towards sealing a move to the Emirates Stadium.
“There is nothing with Chelsea because he is really, really close to joining Arsenal,” said Romano. “He has an agreement on personal terms already with Arsenal & he wants to join Arsenal. Its not done yet, but they are getting closer.”
Sassuolo chief executive Giovanni Carnevali confirmed yesterday that they are in talks with an overseas club about the possibility of midfielder Manuel Locatelli sealing a summer exit.
Amongst the clubs to have been heavily linked with a move for his signature are Arsenal, who are desperate to add a new central-midfielder to their ranks this summer as part of manager Mikel Arteta’s summer overhaul.
Although Carnevali has not named the club, it is possible that it could be the Gunners.
We’re in talks for Locatelli with one club from abroad… and it’s really advanced. We’re going to meet with Juventus in the next days, but there are no negotiations yet with Juve as Italian clubs are in difficult financial situation.
Hammers want Gunners target
Reported Arsenal target Paul Onuachu is soon set to be the subject of a big-money bid from West Ham United, according to reports.
It is claimed that the Hammers are prepared to launch a £8.6million bid for the Genk striker’s services, despite the Belgian club valuing him at £17.2million.
Arsenal are yet to make an offer for the Nigerian, but could be tempted if they feel it is important for them to bring in a new striker this summer.
Taylor-Hart to sign new deal
Arsenal youngster Kido Taylor-Hart is set to sign a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium, football.london has revealed.
The left-winger, who will turn 19-years-old at the end of September, has been in discussions with the club over a new deal since back in March and has attracted interest from several corners of Europe.
