Hello and welcome along to football.london’s Arsenal transfer news live blog.
The summer transfer window is open for another 28 days and the Gunners will be looking to bolster their squad even further following three new additions already.
The need for a few more signings was displayed after the Gunners lacked any real conviction in their 2-1 pre-season defeat to Chelsea.
Nuno Tavares has arrived to provide competition as well as cover for Kieran Tierney, Albert Sambi Lokonga’s move from Anderlecht was next to be completed and Ben White was finally announced as an Arsenal player last Friday.
Depending on what happens with player sales, the next month could be very exciting for Gunners supporters, amid links to Tammy Abraham, Lautaro Martinez, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale and James Maddison.

Sanches talks open
Arsenal have begun talks to sign Lille maestro Renato Sanches, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The report claims that the Portuguese midfielder caught the eyes of the Gunners’ hierarchy whilst playing at Euro 2020 and the north London club have since contacted Lille to open talks regarding a transfer.
The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his contract with the reigning French champions.
Arsenal could move for Marcos Asensio if they fail to sign James Maddison or Martin Odegaard, according to The Sun.
The Spanish playmaker could be available at a cut price of just £34million, almost half what the Foxes are demanding for Maddison.
Asensio notched five goals and two assists in 35 La Liga matches last term.
Arsenal have confirmed that Kevin Betsy has been appointed as the club’s new Under-23 manager.
“It’s an honour and privilege to be joining Arsenal as Under-23s Head Coach,” Betsy told the club’s website.
Arsenal is of course an iconic club in world football with such a rich history. This is also a club with a very strong current record of developing young football players for the highest level, but also placing an emphasis on producing well-rounded young people.”
football.london understands that Arsenal have stepped up their chase for Leicester City playmaker James Maddison.
The Gunners have proposed a player plus cash deal for the 24-year-old but at the minute it is unclear what player they have included in the offer.
Hale End graduate Ainsley Maitland-Niles has previously been linked with a switch to the King Power Stadium.

Torreira sends message
Arsenal wantaway Lucas Torreira has posted a picture on Instagram at an airport, with a Spain flag emoji used as the caption.
The Uruguayan midfielder could be sending a cryptic message on his future given he wants to leave the London club this summer.
Torreira spent last season on loan with Atletico Madrid, playing 26 times as Diego Simeone’s side clinched their first La Liga title in seven years.
Arsenal appoint new coach
Arsenal have appointed Kevin Betsy as their new Under-23s coach, according to Training Ground Guru.
Betsy has been heavily linked with the vacant role during the course of the summer and has now been selected as the permanent successor to Steve Bould, who left the club at the end of last season.
The 43-year-old has coached England at a number of different youth levels, including the Under-18s.
Arsenal’s new signing Albert Sambi Lokonga has revealed he was gutted to lose his first match at the Emirates, with the Gunners losing 2-1 to Chelsea during their pre-season friendly on Sunday.
Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, he said: “It was really good, a little bit sad because we didn’t get the three points.
“But yeah, my first time at the Emirates, I think it’s a good thing for me, a good start. So I hope the future will be better.
“If I have to speak about the team, we had a really good performance but we gave away the ball and then they scored.
“But yeah for the next time we have to be careful because I think this kind of goal we can avoid.”

Thomas Partey’s injury may not be as bad as first thought, according to some reports.
The Ghanian midfielder, who suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s pre-season loss to Chelsea, will likely miss the Gunners’ Premier League opener against Brentford on August 13.
However, there is some optimism that the 28-year-old’s injury isn’t a high-ankle sprain as some Arsenal fans feared over the weekend.

Arsenal urged to sign Ramsdale alternative
Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has questioned Arsenal’s pursuit of Aaron Ramsdale, urging them to sign Newcastle United youngster Freddie Woodman instead.
“It’s bizarre,” Mills told Football Insider.
“Go and get Freddie Woodman for £10million. If you want a back up goalkeeper, there you go.
“He’s got good experience, a decent goalkeeper. He’s coming through and will cost you probably less than half.
“Aaron Ramsdale is not like ‘Wow, outstanding goalkeeper worth more than £30million’. It seems like a lot of money for what you’re getting.”
Real want Odegaard clause
Real Madrid want to include a buy-back clause in any deal to sell Arsenal target Martin Odegaard, according to Spanish outlet ABC.
The report claims that Los Blancos’ manager Carlo Ancelotti has told the 22-year-old that he is part of his plans but is not guaranteed a regular role in the team as Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro are still at the club.
This has resulted in the Norway captain pondering his future, with a return to the Gunners thought of as a potential destination.
However, the Spanish giants are reportedly demanding £42.5million as well as a buy-back clause, something that may put the north London club off.
Granit Xhaka close to signing new deal
Arsenal are confident that Granit Xhaka will sign a new contract soon, Fabrizio Romano reports.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta stated at the weekend that he wants to keep the Swiss international at the club.
Granit Xhaka is going to stay with us. He is a key member of our squad,” Arteta said as quoted by talkSPORT.
James Maddison blow
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted that the foxes have no need to sell the midfielder this summer amid strong Arsenal interest.
In conversations with the club, we don’t have to sell. That’s something that’s been made clear,” Rodgers said after full-time of their latest draw with Queens Park Rangers, a match missed by Maddison after the birth of his child. “The players want to stay. It’s a really exciting time at the club. There’s lots of gossip and speculation around but I’m loving working with the guys here, they love being here, and we certainly have no need to sell. So I would suspect we’re looking to keep our best players.”
Tottenham set to rival Arsenal for Lautaro Martinez signing
Reports in Spain are claiming that Inter Milan have set their asking price at €80million for Lautaro Martinez this summer, with Tottenham the latest name to be linked with rivalling Arsenal’s attempts to sign him.
Arsenal are claimed to be keen on his signature, with some reports claiming the club would be willing to offer a player-plus-cash offer to land the 23-year-old, but MundoDeportivo (via the Express) insist that they are only interested in a straight cash deal, with €80m set as the asking price.
L’Interista claim that Spurs are expected to consider Martinez with Harry Kane believed to be pushing for a move.
