Granit Xhaka’s mooted move to AS Roma is off and he will be staying at Arsenal.
This was revealed by the Gunners coach Mikel Arteta after Sunday’s game against Chelsea at the Emirates.
Xhaka was linked with the Jose Mourinho-coached Roma, and it’s not clear why the deal is off.
“Granit [Xhaka] is going to stay with us. He is a key member of our squad,” Arteta confirmed.
Arsenal have reportedly offered the Swiss a new contract until June 2025, which comes with an increased salary.
Meanwhile, Roma are said to have offered €12m+€3m add ons for the 28-year-old.
