Arsenal Women Manager Joe Montemurro and US head coach Jill Ellis have been nominated as best women’s coach at the Best Fifa Football Awards.
Ellis, who this week announced she will step down, guided the US women’s team to back-to-back World Cup titles.
Montemurro, won FA Women’s Super League and was named LMA WSL Manager of the Year, his side conceded just 13 goals in 20 league games – scoring 70 (average 3.5gpg)
Italy’s Milena Bertolini, Sweden’s Peter Gerhardsson, Japan’s Futoshi Ikeda, Spain’s Antonia Is, Lyon’s Reynald Pedros, North Carolina Vourage’s Paul Riley and Netherlands’ Sarina Wiegman, England’s Phil Neville complete the women’s coaches shortlist.
The ten-person shortlist for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach 2019 award – based on their respective achievements during the period from 25 May 2018 to 7 July 2019 inclusive – has been compiled by a panel of experts in women’s football.
The public will vote from the shortlists in each category, with the winners revealed on 23 September.
