‘Bissouma in January’ – Arsenal fans send Edu transfer demand after Granit Xhaka’s injury update – Football.London

Arsenal enjoyed a near-perfect weekend of Premier League action.

The Gunners saw Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool drop points before they recorded a famous 3-1 win over north London rivals Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

First-half goals from Hale End graduates Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka bookended a neat finish from club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Spurs had no answer to Mikel Arteta’s tactics.

However, the crucial win was marred by a late injury to deep-lying midfielder Granit Xhaka, who was in a great deal of discomfort following a coming together with Brazilian frontman Lucas Moura.

Xhaka was eventually substituted for Belgian starlet Albert Sambi Lokonga but Arteta admitted the injury looked like a bad one.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, the Spanish coach said: “Unfortunately he got an injury and I’m pretty worried because it doesn’t look very positive at the moment.”

Now, the Swiss captain will see further knee specialists with official confirmation on his injury lay off expected within the next 24 hours, football.london understands.

A number of Arsenal fans took to social media to voice their frustrations whilst some even called for technical director Edu to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma or Lyon maestro Bruno Guimaraes, both of which have been linked with a move to north London in the past.

Here is how a select few supporters reacted on Twitter to the injury update.

@RedWhite_Gooner : “The injury curse strikes again.”

@Rargianfawr : “Go for Bissouma in Jan if we can

@wansetyawannnz : “Bruno Guimaraes in January is a must then.”

@MagnusLanding : “Literally the first game after having everyone fit. Knew it.”

@afcjxmes : “Could’ve been worse, definitely won’t do us any favours though.”

@SemperFiArsenal : “Arteta is so unlucky. Can’t have his best 11 for a full match smh.”
