The South African sevens rugby team recorded their second win at the Olympic Games on Monday with a 14-5 victory over Kenya.
The Blitzboks started like a house on fire with early tries from speedster Selvyn Davids and skipper Siviwe Soyizwapi to take a 14-0 lead.
Kenya responded with a try just before half-time from veteran Collins Injera.
The South Africans didn’t get many more chances for the remainder of the encounter but some resolute defence saw them keep the Kenyans at bay in a scoreless second half.
Earlier on Monday, the Blitzboks got their campaign underway with a 33-14 win over Ireland.
South Africa’s final Pool C game is against the United States on Tuesday morning (04:30 SA time).
There are three pools in the Olympic Sevens event, wit the winners of the three pools and the best-placed pool runner-up advancing to the semi-finals.
