Liverpool and Manchester City had to settle for a point each at Anfield after a pulsating 2-2 draw.
City dominated the first half but could not find the finishing touch and they were made to pay when Sadio Mane put Liverpool into the lead just before the hour mark.
Phil Foden equalised 10 minutes later before Salah scored a brilliant individual goal to put the hosts back in front with 14 minutes remaining.
But De Bruyne’s deflected strike brought the scores level again and both sides missed chances to win it.
The result leaves Liverpool one point behind Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table, with City a further point behind in third.
And despite being left above their rivals in the table, Chelsea fans were left wishing their club had been able to keep hold of both of their former players.
Here’s what fans had to say on social media.
@CFCDUBois: “Chelsea products KDB and Salah setting the Premier League alight, we’ve done it again.”
@willreyner: “Watching Salah and KDB score bangers is just depressing as a Chelsea fan.”
@harrytaynes: “Hurts a bit as a Chelsea fan seeing KDB and Salah scoring bangers. BUT with the draw we’re top of the league, so you win some, you lose some.”
@HarisB95_: “Will never forgive Chelsea for selling KDB and Salah.”
It comes following Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Trevoh Chalobah headed past Alex McCarthy in the Saints goal to put the Blues in front, but Southampton equalised through James Ward-Prowse’s penalty on the hour mark.
Ward-Prowse was sent off with 15 minutes remaining for a late challenge on Jorginho before Timo Werner tapped in his side’s second goal and Ben Chilwell made the points safe with a minute remaining.
