Hello everyone and welcome to football.london’s live Chelsea blog on Tuesday.
With the summer transfer window edging ever closer to its conclusion, the Blues continue to be linked with new players, while some squad members are rumoured to be on their way out of Stamford Bridge.
Jules Kounde remains a target for Thomas Tuchel in the final few days, and we expect to hear plenty more on Chelsea’s pursuit of the France international throughout the day.
A move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez has also been reported and there is an exciting update on that front below.
With that being said, make sure you keep the blog locked throughout the day so that you don’t miss a single development.
Chelsea need to offload trio
Chelsea will need to sell Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko if they are to land Atletico Madrid playmaker Saul Nigez, according to the Telegraph.
The report claims that the Blues are interested in bringing the Spanish maestro to Stamford Bridge this month but will need to clear their bloated squad before making a move for the Atletico Madrid star.
Ugbo nears Chelsea exit
Chelsea wantaway Ike Ugbo is nearing a move to Belgian outfit Genk.
According to 90Min, Chelsea are looking to structure a deal for Sevilla star Jules Kounde in instalments, instead of paying his release clause up front.
The Frenchman’s clause recent went up from £68million to £77million, a fee that the Blues are reportedly unwilling to pay upfront.
However, the west London club could be willing to spend more if a deal is structured in a way to avoid Financial Fair Play complications.
The aforementioned report claims that Sevilla are open to such a deal but have told Chelsea they would need to come up with a package worth £90million instead.
Bakayoko nears Milan
Chelsea wantaway midfielder TiemoueBakayoko is nearing a move to AC Milan, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Frenchman struggled to impose himself at Stamford Bridge since completing a transfer from Monaco in the summer of 2017 and he looks set to re-join Milan, where he spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan.
Chelsea eye Diaz
Chelsea are interested in signing Porto winger Luis Diaz, according to Portuguese outlet Maisfutebol.
The report claims that the Blues want to bring in one more attacker this month and they have identified Diaz, who has also been linked to Tottenham, as a viable option.
Conte to Arsenal?
Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could be lined up as the next Arsenal manager if current boss Mikel Arteta gets the sack, according to The Telegraph.
The report claims that the Gunners are eyeing up the Italian, who spent two years at Stamford Bridge, in the event that Arteta loses his job this term.
Neville praises Havertz
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has heaped praise on Chelsea starlet Kai Havertz.
“I actually think Havertz has gone up a level but he is in third gear. He could go to fourth gear and to fifth gear. He could become an absolutely great player,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“When he really fills out, and he will do, he is already a great runner with the ball, but he will get more confidence, more belief and in a couple of years he could be someone who is absolutely there.”
“Remember what Chelsea did with Eden Hazard. He went from here, to here, to here. I think that’s what Havertz will do.”
Kounde prepared to stay at Sevilla
According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is prepared to stay with the Spanish club if a move to Chelsea does not materialise.
The Blues are determined to bring in the 22-year-old before the end of the transfer window, but are yet to table an official offer.
Now, Romano says that Kounde will not force through a move away from Seville.
Zouma exit stance
According to Sky Sports, Kurt Zouma will be happy to stay at Chelsea if his proposed to West Ham United does not materialise.
Zouma is wanted by the Hammers this month, with the Blues said to be willing to letting him leave Stamford Bridge.
The Hammers remain interested in the France defender, but face a race against the deadline to complete a deal.
Saul move ‘weighed up’
According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are ‘weighing up’ a late loan move for Saul Niguez, but any transfer is dependant on player sales.
The Atletico Madrid and Spain midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with his future in the Spanish capital uncertain.
Now, it seems as if the Blues may make a swoop for Saul before the transfer window concludes later this month.
