Thomas Tuchel takes his unbeaten Chelsea side on a short 13-mile trip to north London this weekend as they face rivals Spurs in a capital derby on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea come into the game unbeaten so far this season in the Premier League and Champions League, only dropping points in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool three weeks ago when they played for the best part of an hour with ten men.
Spurs meanwhile have stuttered a bit after their promising start under Nuno Espirito Santo. They were unbeaten in their first three league games, including an opening day victory over Man City, but were well beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace last time out (when down to ten men) and stumbled to a 2-2 draw with Rennes in the Europa Conference League in midweek.
Tuchel’s side will have the benefit of having had a couple more days of rest heading into Sunday’s game having beaten Zenit 1-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night while Spurs’ draw with Rennes took place on Thursday night though it wasn’t a too arduous trip to France.
Last season, Tuchel travelled to Spurs in just his third game in charge having replaced Frank Lampard at the helm in January and walked away with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a 24th minute winner from the penalty spot from Jorginho.
The two sides also met in pre-season ahead of the 2021/22 campaign and played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in The Mind Series at Stamford Bridge, the Blues blowing a two-goal lead at Stamford Bridge having made a raft of substitutions in the second half.

Tuchel is hopeful that N’Golo Kante will be fit to return this weekend having missed the last two games with an ankle problem he first sustained in the Super Cup win over Villarreal in the Super Cup but aggravated in the draw at Anfield earlier on August 28. Christian Pulisic is expected to miss the game through injury as well.
The Blues head coach will face the media at 1pm this afternoon at the club’s training base in Cobham and we will bring you live updates with what the boss has to say.
As always, there will be a full transcript with what Tuchel had to say online later this afternoon.
