Chelsea press conference recap: Thomas Tuchel on Chesterfield, FA Cup, Werner, Lukaku, Hall – Football.London

Good evening and welcome to live coverage of Thomas Tuchel’s post-match press conference after Chelsea’s 5-1 FA Cup victory over Chesterfield.

The Blues moved into the fourth round without any trouble. Given the side named by Tuchel – which included Christian Pulisic, Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner – that was always likely to be the case.

Chelsea took the lead early into the match as Werner fired home from close range after Hakim Ziyech had been denied by visitors goalkeeper Scott Loach.

There was little Loach could do about the Blues’ second as Callum Hudson-Odoi found the bottom corner with an excellent curled strike from 25 yards.

Lukaku then added a third after being teed up by debutant Lewis Hall and Andreas Christensen headed home a fourth before the interval.

Tuchel made a double half-time change and made three substitutes during the second period as Chelsea eased home. Hakim Ziyech did add a fifth from the penalty spot after Christian Pulisic had been felled before Chesterfield’s feel-good moment arrived.

Late into the contest, Akwasi Asante converted from close range in front of the travelling supporters. It was a nice moment for the non-league side even if it meant little in the grand scheme of the game.

We are in position to get the post-match thoughts from Tuchel. Live updates will appear below.
