Reported Chelsea transfer target Sasa Kalajdzic has suggested that he is eyeing a new contract with Stuttgart amid rumours linking him with Stamford Bridge.
Having netted 17 goals in all competitions and with just two years remaining on his current deal at the Mercedez-Benz Arena, the 24-year-old looked an excellent alternative to Haaland as Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel aims to bolster his forward line.
However, the striker himself has told that he is not actively looking for a move away from Stuttgart and would only be tempted if he was offered an ideal switch.
Talking to Kleine Zeitung, he said: “Of course, I can imagine extending my contract.
“But that would also have to fit. It’s not just me who decides that; it’s also decided by others.
“Something would have to come along that would just fit, and then we’ll see. If there’s something that really impresses me, where I say I want to do that, then I’ll do it.
“I am relaxed. I don’t really think about it much. I’m just here right now, having fun with my friends and trying to prepare for every single training session.”
Kalajdzic’s comments are the second blow in as many days as Chelsea attempt to bring the striker to Stamford Bridge.
Stuttgart’s sporting director Sven Mislintat has suggested that he is not particularly concerned about the transfer rumours linking the striker with a move away in the current window.
Talking to Sky in Germany, via kicker, he said: “Sasa still has a two-year contract with us and feels right at home. You can see that. He’s been training in VfB clothes all summer. I’m not that worried about that, to be honest.”
