Chelsea vs Southampton prediction: Kai Havertz can find his form again at Stamford Bridge – Football.London

Chelsea will be looking to get back to winning ways hitting what can only be described as a “banana skin” in terms of their recent form as they welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge.

The Champions League holders are the favourites at 2/5 with Grosvenor Sport while Southampton are 8/1 and a draw is 18/5.

The Inside Track’s Tom Phillips is backing Kai Havertz to find his goalscoring touch against the Saints at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The Blues will be looking to respond quickly to a three-match winless streak in all competitions – including the Aston Villa match which ended 1-1 after 90 minutes – which includes back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Man City and Juventus.

Beforehand, Thomas Tuchel’s side won all their games to nil – which is 11/10 in this match too – but will need to get back to winning ways but may find that tricky with Southampton becoming some what of a bogey team in recent seasons.

Southampton are yet to lose at Stamford Bridge in almost four years and have picked up only one defeat in five meetings with the champions of Europe.

Havertz may have only picked up one goal so far this season, but the German has offered plenty in attack for Tuchel’s side to give defenders trouble to isolate.

He may have received criticism for his performance against Juventus at the weekend but as last season proved, the former Bayer Leverkusen playmaker knows how to respond to his critics in brilliant fashion.

Elsewhere, Southampton’s Tino Livramento has the perfect opportunity to show his former employers what they are missing.

The defender, who moved from Chelsea in the summer, has kept two clean sheets in his last three Premier League appearances.

This will be the 107th meeting in all competitions and 95th in the league.

The Blues have the better overall record with 46 wins, 31 draws and 29 losses and have 42 wins, 27 draws and 25 losses in their league meetings too.

However, Chelsea have picked up one win in their last five meetings against the Saints which was at St Mary’s Stadium.

Their last win at Stamford Bridge against Southampton was back in December 2017 – they have drawn twice and lost once at home since then.
