Thomas Tuchel has thrown in a few surprise selections as Chelsea take on Bournemouth this evening in their second pre-season friendly.
With the likes of N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner left at home, the Blues head coach was always going to be using the players who have spent the past two weeks training at Cobham and during the shorterned training camp in Ireland.
In goal is Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is likely to be given the first 45 minutes of the contest at the Vitality before being replaced by Edouard Mendy.
The back three Tuchel has selected to start the game is interesting. On the right is Dujon Sterling, in the centre is midfielder Lewis Baker, while Malang Sarr is on the left.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, despite impressing in the opening pre-season game against Peterborough off the left, is used at right wing-back. Marcos Alonso is on the opposite flank.
In the centre of midfield is the pairing of Danny Drinkwater and Conor Gallagher. The latter of which has strong interest from Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.
Tuchel hasn’t deviated away from his 3-4-2-1 and the inside forwards are Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech, who will be looking to add to the hat-trick he scored against Peterborough.
Leading the attack is Tammy Abraham. The striker has attracted interest from Arsenal over the last fortnight but will not have given up hope of forcing his way back into Tuchel’s plans.
