Ahead of their opening Group A match against Comoros, Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk says they cannot afford to underestimate any team they come up against in the COSAFA Cup just because South Africa has been to the World Cup.
Van Wyk and her teammates have already started preparing for their first match where they will face Comoros in the 2019 edition of the tournament.
The two sides met some years ago and Banyana Banyana won 13-0 in the first leg, leading to the opposition not honouring the second leg in South Africa.
But Van Wyk was quick to warn her teammates that that was then, and women’s football has improved since then.
