Jadon Sancho’s long-awaited move to Manchester United has been all-but confirmed, leaving Chelsea fans on the edge when it comes to the state of their own transfer window.
The Red Devils have agreed a deal in principle with Borussia Dortmund for Sancho, 21, with the transfer set to cost the Premier League side a total of £72.9million.
The young English forward has penned a five-year-deal at Old Trafford, leaving many United fans excited for the upcoming season.
Happiness is the complete contrast to the mood being conveyed and demonstrated on social media by Chelsea fans who are now on the edge when it comes to the state of their own transfer window.
Undoubtedly, up to this point in this summer transfer window, the club have been focused on outgoings to the squad as Thomas Tuchel looks to streamline and trim the squad size ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
Additionally, selling players for sizeable fees will add extra funds to the transfer budget that will be provided to the Blues manager, on top of all the money Roman Abramovich will provide off his own back.
So far, Fikayo Tomori has been sold to Italian giants AC Milan for a fee of around £27million. Fringe players like Robert Kenedy and many more will be looking to seal either permanent or loan deals away from the club in this transfer window.
Despite the proactiveness shown by the Chelsea board when it comes to negotiating outgoing deals, fans are starting to question what is going on with incomings.
This fear has been heightened after Premier League rivals United confirmed the signing of Sancho, who had been previously linked to Chelsea, especially during Frank Lampard’s managerial days at the club.
This is how a select few Chelsea fans have reacted to the Sancho news on social media. A mixture of reactions from the Blues faithful.
Here are how other fans reacted to the news on Twitter.

@syed230183 commented: “Sancho is a damn good signing, regardless of Man U needing him or not, regardless of Southgate using him or not.”
@Jeto345 said: “If Chelsea were dead serious about buying Sancho I believe we would’ve gotten him over United.
“But we didn’t and that tells me that Chelsea are happy with all of Pulisic, Hudson Odoi and Ziyech and are not looking to sell them BUT if an offer came in then who knows.”
@ThankYouKai tweeted: “Sancho and Varane to Man Utd and we still haven’t signed anyone this clubs dumb.”
@CJHCFC1994 admitted: “Sancho is a player i really wanted my club to sign, one of the most talented wingers of his generation & grew up supporting Chelsea FC, but we never went in for him at all! For some reason he wanted Man U… seems best friends with Rashford & money talks (wages) i guess!
@OPATNI claimed: “Unpopular Opinion CHO will be a better player than Jadon Sancho.”
The Chelsea faithful will be keeping a close eye on the activity around the club when it comes to potential incoming.
We know already that the Blues have seemingly missed out on wing-back target Achraf Hakimi, after the Moroccan has agreed a deal with his preferred destination PSG.
Joakim Maehle and Leonardo Spinazzola are viewed as the back-up options as Tuchel looks to add another wing-back to the squad.
Central midfield is another position the Blues are looking to strengthen in the transfer window, with Declan Rice still remaining the club’s primary target.
Encouragingly for Blues fans, they have been handed a recent boost in their pursuit of the Hammers midfielder, with the 22-year-old rejecting contract offers from the east Londoners.
But the most important and the highest priority position for the Chelsea hierarchy to sort out this summer is the striker position, with Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud struggling to provide the firepower needed to elevate the team to the next level.
Erling Haaland is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment as the Blues continue to be linked with a £112million swoop for the young Norwegian. He scored an Impressive 27 goals in 28 Bundesliga games last season, and that type of form from the for the 20-year-old could leapfrog Tuchel’s side into a title challenge for next season.
Patience will seemingly be needed for the deal though, with Dortmund standing firm in their stance and message that Haaland is not for sale.

This could all change though if the Blues meet the enormous asking price that has been put on Mino Raiola’s client.
With Sancho finalising his move to Manchester, it has left Chelsea fans questioning whether or not Dortmund would let two big names leave the club in the same transfer window.
Time will tell as the summer transfer season progresses.
