Manchester United will be over the moon with how their transfer window has gone this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side also brought in Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane for £73million and £45million respectively.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Daniel James left the club on deadline day after United agreed a £25million fee with Leeds.
But there were plenty of other reported targets that seemingly went by the wayside for United this summer.
Here, Mirror Sport brings you the latest news from Old Trafford as the transfer window door slams shut until January.
Ronaldo officially returns
Transfer deadline day brought the best news United fans have heard in a long time when it was officially confirmed that Ronaldo had returned to Old Trafford.
The 36-year-old re-joined the club on a two-year deal, with the option of extending his contract for a further year.
The Portuguese star took to social media to share the news of his return and dedicated it to former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
“The years I spent in this club were absolutely amazing and the path we’ve made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution.
“I can’t even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide.
“It’s like a dream come true, after all the times that I went back to play against Manchester United, and even as an opponent, to have always felt such love and respect from the supporters in the stands.
“This is absolutely 100% the stuff that dreams are made of!”
United miss out on Camavinga
Will Manchester United win the Premier League this season? Comment below.
However, one player United missed out on is French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who completed a move to Real Madrid on deadline day.
The 18-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to bolster his ranks with a new midfielder, but the youngster has instead opted for a move to the Bernabeu.
Camavinga, who was believed to be United’s No.1 midfield target, joined Los Blancos for a reported fee worth up to €40million (£34.4million) on a six-year contract.
The central midfielder is considered one of the brightest prospects in world football and French giants PSG were also rumoured to be interested.
Camavinga made his Ligue 1 debut at just 16 and the France international is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Luka Modric.
Van de Beek denied move
The outlet claims the Dutchman tried to force a loan move away from Old Trafford after limited first-team opportunities at the club, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prevented the move from taking place.
The 24-year-old hasn’t featured at all for United this season, despite working hard on his fitness in pre-season.
Everton could have offered van de Beek the chance to potentially rescue his Premier League career, but the Dutchman will be staying put in Manchester.
