Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has jokingly suggested that Chelsea target Erling Haaland is currently in England, amid intense speculation over his future.
The German giants returned to pre-season training on Monday, with fitness tests set to take place ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
The Norwegian was missing from proceedings, a strange occurrence considering the striker’s lack of international action this summer, with his nation having not managed to reach the Euro 2020 finals – something which will have undoubtedly raised eyebrows and fuelled yet more transfer talk.
Dortmund’s current director of football Michael Zorc was probed by Sky in Germany over his whereabouts, to which he reportedly gave a joking response.
He replied, while laughing: “He is already in England.”
Reports have been steadily swirling since the season finished, with prior suggestions indicating that Chelsea had agreed on personal terms with the 20-year-old, while some suggested they have also lodged an opening bid with his current employers Dortmund.
Meanwhile, the current Champions League holders have been linked with alternatives should they not secure Haaland’s signature, including Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez and Gerard Moreno of Villarreal.
