Eric Dier in, Dele Alli out – the six changes Tottenham fans want to see against Arsenal – Football.London

Tottenham face their first North London Derby of the season at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday and Spurs fans have had their say on who they would like to see start.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side travelled to the Molineux in the week where they came out on top against Wolves, for the second time this season, after scoring three goals in the penalty shootout.

This victory, which ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, was a positive change to their most recent two Premier League fixtures where they have suffered two 3-0 losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea which came after three victories to start their 2021/22 campaign.

The Lilywhites have also got through to the group stages of the Europa Conference League and drew their first group fixture, against Rennes.

The Tottenham boss was criticised for his defensive choices at Selhurst Park, playing Oliver Skipp, Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Winks in the centre of midfield.

Despite their loss against Thomas Tuchel’s side, the north London club had a positive attacking first half and the line-up looked a lot less defensive, with the introduction of Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele to the middle of the field.

Espirito Santo revealed, in his North London Derby pre-match press conference, that Steven Bergwjin and Ryan Sessegnon are both still injured but Lucas Moura has returned to training.

With the majority of the squad available for selection, the Portuguese head coach has a lot of decisions to make in a derby that both sides will be looking to get three points from.

Tottenham fans have picked their ideal starting XI and football.london takes a look at who they would choose.

Goalkeeper

No surprise that the Lilywhites fans have opted for Hugo Lloris to replace Pierluigi Gollini, who played on Wednesday night.

Gollini made a save in the penalty shootout against Espirito Santo’s former side and the Spurs boss has given the summer signing a chance in the Europa Conference League, but Lloris is clearly Tottenham’s first choice in the Premier League.

Defence

Tottenham supporters have opted to make two changes from the side who started at the Molineux, keeping Japhet Tanganga and Cristian Romero in their starting XI’s.

Eric Dier and Sergio Reguilon are likely candidates to be in the line-up against Arsenal, as both have started in the opening five games in the Premier League.

Reguilon also scored a goal in the penalty shootout against Bruno Lage’s side and Dier has been a key presence in the back four, so both could return at the Emirates Stadium.

Midfield

The start of Tottenham’s 2021/22 campaign has seen Espirito Santo choose various combinations in the middle of the field.

The Portuguese head coach was criticised for opting for a defensive midfield against Patrick Vieira’s side but went for a much more attacking presence against Chelsea, although Spurs lost both fixtures.

Oliver Skipp, Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli were the chosen three against Wolves on Wednesday and the Lilywhites fans would only change the latter, replacing him with Pierre Emile Hojbjerg.

The Dane has been a big presence so far and scored his first goal of the season in their first Europa Conference League group game against Rennes.

Front three

Another area that has been changed in the season so far is the front three, mainly due to injuries picked up by Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwjin.

Bergwjin is still unavailable but Moura has returned to training with the north London club’s squad, although Spurs fans haven’t selected him in their starting XI.

Giovani Lo Celso returned from his isolation, after the chaos from the international break, but hasn’t made a big impact upon his return.

Summer signing Bryan Gil, however, has been praised by fans for his energetic and promising performances, especially in the Carabao Cup fixture where he also scored a penalty.

Therefore, Spurs fans opted to keep the 20-year-old in their starting line-up but replaced the Argentine with Son, who seems an obvious choice to start alongside Harry Kane.

Whoever Espirito Santo decides to play, he will be needing his team to be up for the fixture against Mikel Arteta’s side, who come into the game on the back of two Premier League wins and a Carabao Cup victory.

Tottenham haven’t had much success at the Emirates Stadium in recent years but they will be hoping to change that and get maximum points when they take on their north London rivals.
