F1 British GP Race Live Coverage – F1 Live Text Commentaries Updated
15:05 CEST: Support for Lewis Hamilton
This is Lewis Hamilton‘s home race and he has won here seven times before, which is a record. There is plenty of backing for the Englishman from the crowd, with Mercedes publishing a tweet showing some of that support.
14:40 CEST: Perez will start from the pit lane
Saturday’s sprint race didn’t go at all to plan for Sergio Perez, who had to retire before reaching the finish line. Now, having made some changes on his car, he’ll have to start this Sunday’s race from the pit lane. Perez is a great overtaker, though, so he could still cause an upset.
14:20 CEST: Leclerc is very confident
Ferrari had good race pace in Saturday’s sprint, so Charles Leclerc is hopeful that he can score good points at the British Grand Prix. “I will try to push for a podium for sure,” he said on Saturday evening. But, if we don’t make the position at the start, it’s going to be difficult to overtake on track. So we definitely need to try and make a position at the start without taking too many risks. The pace was very, very good. I could stay behind Valtteri all the race, more or less, at a reasonable distance without him pulling away too much, so that is positive for Sunday.”
14:00 CEST: British Grand Prix predictions time!
There are just two hours to go now until the start of this British Grand Prix, so let’s have some predictions. Tell us who you think will win this race in the poll below.
13:35 CEST: A three-place penalty for George Russell
This has been a great British Grand Prix weekend so far for George Russell, as he reached Q3 and then finished ninth in the sprint race. However, he has been hit with a three-place penalty for the race after colliding with Carlos Sainz on Saturday. That means Russell will now start 12th.
13:05 CEST: A warm Sunday with no rain
There is a mini heatwave in the United Kingdom right now, so high temperatures are expected at Silverstone. That could negatively affect the tyres, but most teams will be happy that there is no rain forecast for this afternoon’s session.
12:55 CEST: The first sprint race weekend
This is a quite unique race weekend, with qualifying determined on Saturday through a sprint race. Max Verstappen won it, but is this going to be a good format? We analysed the first sprint race in detail right here.
12:40 CEST: What time does Sunday’s British GP race start?
