Sari van Veenendaal has been voted the best women’s goalkeeper in the world. The Dutch international beat both Chilean Christiane Endler and Swedish Hedvig Lindahl to the most prestigious award.
Van Veenendaal winning the FIFA best award in Milan was not really a surprise,as she made more saves at the 2019 World Cup (23) than any other goalkeeper.
It is the second most prestigious individual award in 2019 after being named best keeper at the World Cup in July and won silver medal with the Dutch team. Shortly after the World Cup, Van Veenendaal switched from Arsenal to Atlético Madrid.
The 28-year-old Van Veenendaal played for Arsenal for four years, helping them to win the Barclays FA Women’s Super League for the first time in seven (7) years which qualified them to Uefa Women’s champions League.
Van Veenendaal received the prestigious award from Samuel Eto’o, the former striker of Cameroon.
