World Football Association, FIFA will host The Best Awards on Monday 23 September. Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema are among the nominees.
Vivianne Miedema has been nominated in the category The Best FIFA Women’s Player of the year. The striker finished top goalscorer last season on the assembly line for Arsenal becoming the first player to score 33 goals a single season.
The London based player thus became the FA Women’s Super League champion with Arsenal.
Miedema was elected PFA Player of the Year.
At the World Cup, Miedema had a significant share in the Orange women’s final spot with three goals. With her two goals against Cameroon, she also became top scorer of all time in the Dutch women’s team.
The 12-woman shortlist for The Best FIFA Women’s Player 2019 award – based on their respective achievements during the period from 25 May 2018 to 7 July 2019 inclusive – has been compiled by a panel of experts in women’s football.
