The Flamingos of Nigeria have qualified for the third round 2020 U17 Women World Cup in India. The ladies defeated Guinea 5-1 (agg- 11-2) in the second leg of the second round of the qualifiers.
Flamingos whitewashed the visitors at the Agege Stadium on Saturday.
Rofiat Imuran opened the score sheet for the home team in the 27th with a super volley. Taiwo Lawal doubled the lead with a brace for Nigeria in 33rd and 40th minutes.
Few minutes to half time whistle, Nigeria’s Bolaji Olamide was handed a Red card by the center referee after a hard tackle on Guinea’s captain who became unconscious and was taken off the pitch by the team medics.
Few minutes into the second half, Osun Babes, Yemisi shoot wide after a great effort from Rofiat Imuran.
Guinea’s Dede converted from the spot after Nigerian defender fouled in the 18 yard box to make the scoreline 3-1
Substitute, Alvin Gasoso made it 4-1 for the Flamingos after putting the ball pass the goalkeeper and defender in the 86th minutes before Chinyere Kalu scored a freekick in the 90th minutes to seal the victory for flamingos.
Flamingos now forward to playing against Ghana in the third round of the qualifiers. Earlier Ghana defeated Liberia 8-0 in the second leg of the qualifiers in Accra.
