‘Finishing above us’ – Arsenal fans react to Newcastle takeover latest update – Football.London

Arsenal supporters have been reacting online to the latest update regarding Newcastle United’s proposed takeover.

According to our sister title Chronicle Live, Saudi Arabia is set to lift its ban on beIN SPORTS, something that is set to have a huge bearing on the Magpies finally being taken over after years of the fans wanting a change at the top of the club.

The aforementioned problem has been a major part of a dispute between Newcastle and the Premier League over a £300million takeover which broke down in the summer of 2020 – leaving some Magpies fans furious.

Now, though, it appears that the possible takeover could come down to an agreement outside of the court between Mike Ashley and the Premier League.

If the takeover does go through, as now expected, this could have huge ramifications for the rest of the English top-flight, with Newcastle set to be one of the wealthier sides in the league.

This has left some Arsenal supporters worried that the Magpies could be about to overtake the Gunners and the north London club may now slip further away from the top four places in the Premier League.

Ashley has been at the top of Newcastle’s board for 14 years and his tenure at the club has been full of protests from the die-hard supporters of the Tyneside-based outfit.

If Ashley does manage to sell his shares in the club, then it could spell the end of Steve Bruce‘s time at St. James’ Park.

Bruce’s time at Newcastle has not gone down too well with the fan base, following his spell at arch-rivals Sunderland from 2009 until 2011 and the performances have not helped his claim either.

Reports that broke on Wednesday state that the 60-year-old could be sacked if the club is finally sold, with his right-hand man Graeme Jones the bookies’ favourite to replace him.
