The joy and funfair that greeted the arrival of Bayelsa Queens Football Club when they won the 2018/19 Nigeria Women Football League Super Four in Lagos and was the pronouncement of a cash reward of twenty-two million naira (#22m) by the Governor of the state his Excellency Governor Henry Seriake Dickson as appreciation by the state government on January 27 2019.

The passing of time has shown that the said amount have been approved by the Governor. But it was confirmed that the ministry of Finance and the Treasury Department have refused to release the money to the team due to a self known reason, thereby putting the state government in bad light of the media in the sport world.

The Governor also announced the donation of a brand new bus to the team which the ministry of Transport have also not made available to them leaving the team to hire rickety buses to away match venues.

This ugly scenario leaves a sore teste in the mouth of the out going Restoration Government that had the honor of receiving a top league trophy after twelve years of trophy drought in the state.

As Governor Henry Seriake Dickson will be celebrating his Birthday come January 28, he should as a matter of fact honour his reputation and direct both the ministry of Finance and Transport to release the twenty-two million naira and Coaster bus to the Restoration Girls as Bayelsa Queens Football Club are fondly called.

By doing so, the government emulate Edo state government act. Last Season, Edo state government provided the team with a well comfortable and well conditioned Bus and other necessary amenities that enhance the team’s Welfare. won’t just be for the betterment of the team alone but also league as other clubs owners will do the same thereby bringing the league to limelight.
