The English FA Women’s League Champions, Arsenal has confirm that Danielle Carter has suffered another rupture to her anterior cruciate ligament in her knee weeks after she sustain an injury.
It is the second time in 15 months that Carter has ruptured her ACL
The injury occurred during our Emirates Cup clash against Bayern Munich last month – and Danielle has since been working hard to prepare for surgery.
The operation will take place in the next few weeks, after which she will begin her rehabilitation programme immediately.
Everyone at the club will be supporting Danielle fully on her journey back to fitness, and we are all wishing her a speedy recovery , the club stated.
Scans taken since have unfortunately confirmed the worst. Carter will likely miss the entirety of the 2019-20 season having missed the majority of the last season, which is desperately unfortunate for her and for Arsenal.
But she need only look to US forward Megan Rapinoe for inspiration, who has also ruptured her ACL twice and still managed to win two World Cups and an Olympic gold. Let’s hope there is a similar light at the end of this dark tunnel for Dan.
