A mouth-watering tie is on the horizon as two of Europe’s heavyweights face each other in the first semi-final at Euro 2020.
The Azzurri have been rightly tipped as the dark horses throughout this tournament and showed no signs of fatigue when they faced Belgium in the quarter-finals after beating Austria in the round of 16 after extra-time.
Under Roberto Mancini, they have not conceded more than one goal in a game and have only let in two goals from five matches this summer – only England has a better defence record going into the semi-finals.
Spain, meanwhile, will be feeling the effects of fatigue going into this match. They beat Croatia 5-3 in extra-time but went to penalties against Switzerland, meaning they have picked up more minutes in this tournament than any other semi-finalist
If they get a result then after 90 minutes will be ideal if the three-time European champions surpass Italy only so they have as much recovery time as possible. It is a tough ask, however.

Jorginho has been crucial in Mancini’s midfield throughout this tournament and has become part of the manager’s spine in the Euros.
The Brazilian-born midfield has started all five matches so far and looks set to start again in the anchor-role in a midfield three.
However, Luis Enrique is somewhat of a tactician too and will be looking to eliminate the passing channels that have caused problems for defences that have faced the Azzurri this summer.
This could potentially open up space for Jorginho to provide service to the likes of Ciro Immobile so I’m backing the Chelsea man to assist tonight.
