Jack Grealish set for crunch talks next week to decide future amid Man City transfer links – The Mirror

Jack Grealish is due back from holiday this week and aims to decide his future next week before the new season.

The Aston Villa skipper is wanted by champions Manchester City in a record £100million deal.

But ambitious Villa are still trying to get him to pen a new contract with his boyhood club.

Grealish, 25, has been abroad in Mykonos after five appearances for England in their run to the Euro 2020 final.

But he is now due back in the UK later this week ahead of returning to pre-season training.

Grealish is also planning crunch talks to decide his future with Villa dangling a new contract.

Villa are offering a big rise on his £130,000-a-week terms which run until 2025.

But the star, who grew up supporting Villa, is wanted by City boss Pep Guardiola.

Grealish has previously been candid about his ambitions to play in the Champions League and win silverware.

Now just like last season, when he penned a new contract before Villa’s Premier League opener, Grealish wants to make a decision and crack on with his football.

Contesting for honours with Guardiola is a huge draw and City are likely to blow Villa’s contract offer out of the water.

But 11th-placed Villa are hoping to kick on again next season after spending a record £33m on Emiliano Buendia and bringing Ashley Young back to the club.

Villa are also on the trail of Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and have bid for Leon Bailey of German club Bayer Leverkusen.

City manager Pep Guardiola has regularly stated his admiration for Grealish, and clearly believes he is a player who can help improve his side.

Speaking about him last year the Catalan manager said: “He’s incredible. A top player. I’m happy he stayed in the Championship to defend his club when he could have gone.

“He’s a talented player who always creates something. (Grealish) is an exceptional player but too expensive for Manchester!”
