Manchester City’s new signing Jack Grealish says he will not be under any pressure despite his big-move move to the Premier League champions.
The England international spoke during his first appearance before the media since making his big move.
Grealish became England’s most expensive player ever following his £100million move from Aston Villa.
“It probably hasn’t sunk in yet. It means so much to me that the club would spend that much money on me and that fills me with confidence.
“There’s no pressure on the price tag. It just shows how much I’m valued so that’s something I view as a compliment that I want to repay.
“I feel like I can bring a lot to this team. As a winger, a playmaker or even a false nine. The manager will choose where to play me and when I do, I’ll give it my all.”
Grealish though understands what the move means, and the fact that he will take Sergio Aguero’s number 10 shirt.
“I spoke to the manager a fair bit and he’s said he thinks I can play a number of positions and I feel like I can do that too.
“But getting the No. 10 shirt was brilliant for myself. I kept telling people how much I’d love to have it. There’s big boots to fill with Sergio [Agüero] having it for a number of years.
“I feel I can wear it and play well in it. I’ll play in it with full confidence.”
Grealish could make his debut against Tottenham on Sunday in their first Premier League clash of the season.
