Jamie Carragher makes brutal Roman Abramovich jibe as Chelsea sack Thomas Tuchel – Football.London

Jamie Carragher has been reacting to the news that Thomas Tuchel has been sacked as Chelsea head coach.

The news comes after Tuchel saw his Blues side beaten 1-0 away at Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. The German was not a happy man after the game and seemed dejected after his side failed to impress in Croatia.

Just a little over 12 hours later, the club released a statement confirming Tuchel’s immediate dismissal from his role in the dugout. The statement confirms Chelsea will swiftly be looking for his replacement.

Carragher took to Twitter minutes after the announcement was made and mentioned former owner Roman Abramovich, who was infamously brutal when it came to sacking managers. The tweet said: “#Tuchel has done a great job at #Chelsea & another club will now get a top manager. Roman is still pulling the strings!!”.

After 589 days in charge of Chelsea and 100 matches in all competitions, Tuchel’s time at Stamford Bridge is over. The former Blues head coach’s final press conference saw him admit that he was annoyed with himself for what went wrong in Zagreb.

“Of course, I’m angry at myself, I’m angry about our performance, this is a huge under-peformance from all of us,” he said. “It’s not precise enough, it’s not clinical enough, it’s not aggressive enough on the ball, it’s not determined enough, it’s not good enough individually, it’s not good enough as a team.”

When asked to elaborate on why he was angry with himself, Tuchel replied: “Because I didn’t see it coming. Obviously I was in the wrong movie.

“I did not see that coming. I thought that the last game helped us, I thought we showed a reaction in a very difficult moment against West Ham, got the reaction, got the result in the moments when you need a bit of luck in the situation we were in.

“We had good training sessions, I thought the team was prepared, I thought we know what this is all about. I didn’t see it coming, that’s why I’m angry on myself.”
