Paris Saint-Germain and France sensation Kylian Mbappe believes that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel “can become of the best coaches of the future.”
The Blues, fresh from sending Real Madrid packing at the semi-final stage, got the better of Premier League rivals Manchester City in Porto, beating them 1-0 thanks to a first half goal from club-record signing Kai Havertz.
Although the scoreline may have suggested that the contest was a tight and cagey affair, the Blues, who have been handed a major boost in their hopes of signing Borussia Dortmund starlet Erling Haaland this summer, were dominant for much of the contest, putting City on the back-foot and limiting a very attack-minded side to very little in the final third.
Once again, Tuchel knew how to get the better of City boss Pep Guardiola, defeating him for the third time in the space of just six weeks.
And it is the German’s tactical nous that has come in for special praise from PSG striker Mbappe, who of course knows all about Tuchel’s management skills from their time together in the French capital.
“He’s fantastic tactically,” Mbappe told BILD. “He knows exactly how opponents will behave and can predict matches very accurately.”
As well as heaping praise on his tactical ability, the 22-year-old, who will be targeting the golden boot at this summer’s delayed European Championships, is also confident that Tuchel has what it takes to become one of the best coaches in football for years to come.
Mbappe continued: “And we must also take this into account: he is still a very young coach. He can become one of the best coaches of the future.
