Nigeria’s No 1Junior lawn tennis player Oyinlomo Quadre claimed her 3rd ITF Junior title of the season, following a comfortable straight-sets victory over 2nd seed, Marylove Edwards, in the finals of the NTF International Junior Championships in Abuja on Sunday.
Quadre outclassed her rival 6-1, 6-0, adding the J5 Abuja title to the Megrine and Cotonou titles, she won in April and September 2019 respectively.
Edwards, who claimed the first leg title last week, came into Sunday’s final on a 7-match winning streak, but was overwhelmed by Quadre, who dictated proceedings from the start and was determined not to allow the 14-year-old settle into any sort of rhythm.
It’s been a remarkable week for Quadre, who also captured the girls doubles title in partnership with Marylove Edwards.
Seeded no 1, the 16 year old began the journey to finals with a 6-0,6-1 victory over compatriot Omolayo Bamidele before taking on Jade Haller. She defeated Haller 6-3,6-0 in the quarter finals.
The Africa’s number one defeated Ivory coast Bohoussou Blanche Lill-be Minet 6-1, 6-0 in the quarter final before clinching the trophy with another 6-1,6-0 victory over Mary Edwards on Sunday.
