Ghana’s Female Under-17 team, Black Maidens lost to Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko the Team of the Year Award in the 2019 Ghana Football Awards.

The category also had Hearts of Oak as a nominee and the Kumasi based side emerged victors on the awards night beating Hearts of Oak and the Black Maidens to the prestigious honour.

Coach Evans Augustine Adotey’s side despite finishing as one of the last eight teams in the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup fell short to Asante Kotoko who under the year reviewed competed in the CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage.

The Black Maidens were crushed out of the tournament at the quarter final stage by Mexico.

On the night at the Accra Marriot Hotel, Skipper of the Black Maidens team, Mukarama Abdulai bagged in both the Women’s Footballer of the Year Award and the Future Star Award.
