Manchester United have enjoyed a remarkable summer transfer window – and it seems they’re not done just yet.
After achieving two long-term targets – finally bringing Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford and signing an experienced defensive partner for Harry Maguire – it seemed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had put his cheque book away.
But then Cristiano Ronaldo became available and, following a whirlwind 24 hours last week, United announced last Friday that the Portuguese superstar was on the brink of returning to his old stomping ground.
And, as we arrive at transfer deadline day today, the club are expected to officially confirm the return of Ronaldo, while there could be other announcements too.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest transfer gossip surrounding Old Trafford…
Lingard makes decision after Ronaldo signing
Jesse Lingard is happy to remain at Old Trafford this season despite the imminent arrival of Ronaldo.
The return of the former fans’ favourite is expected to push Lingard further down the pecking order – but Solskjaer believes he can still find room for the England ace.
Lingard impressed on loan in East London last season and David Moyes has been desperate to bring the playmaker back for another stint.
But, despite Ronaldo’s signing, Lingard wants to prove his worth to the Red Devils.
Indeed, it has been claimed that the United ace has always had his heart set on playing for United this season – and Ronaldo’s arrival hasn’t changed his mind.

United reportedly approached Juventus and initially proposed a player-plus-cash bid for Ronaldo before eventually striking a deal with the Italians.
It is understood the Red Devils have forked out around €15m (£12.87m) – plus a further €8m (£6.86m) in add-ons – to bring the Portuguese superstar back to Old Trafford.
However before agreeing that fee, ESPN has claimed that there were conversations about players possibly moving in the other direction.
No players were mentioned, although when news emerged that Ronaldo was on the brink of returning to United, it was quickly quashed that Paul Pogba would head in the opposite direction.
Solskjaer ‘blocks’ transfer
Solskjaer has reportedly blocked Diogo Dalot’s departure from Old Trafford this summer despite the defender lining up a loan move to Borussia Dortmund.
Dalot spent last season out on loan with AC Milan and it was thought he would be allowed to leave again this season to get regular minutes elsewhere.
That was certainly the indication he was given by his manager, who has Dalot behind first-choice right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the pecking order.
But after being an unused sub in both of United’s opening two Premier League games this season, Dalot came off the bench in Sunday’s win over Wolves, and Solskjaer now wants to keep him as part of his squad.
Key to the United boss’ decision is a lack of cover at right-back, having already let Brandon Williams join Norwich on loan for the rest of the season, reports The Sun.
Dalot’s ability to play in an advanced position as a wing-back, as well on the left flank, has convinced Solskjaer he still has a part to play over the course of the campaign.
Uncertainty over Daniel James’ future may also have persuaded Solskjaer to block Dortmund’s approach for Dalot.
