However, as per a report from Spanish publication AS, a reunion is not currently on the cards. The publication suggests that Barcelona will do everything they can to keep the Argentine, widely regarded as the best player to ever grace the sport.

Kane and Sterling impress

Manchester City fans will have been more pleased than some with England’s 4-0 victory over Ukraine on Saturday night. The Three Lions were a class above their opposition in truth, but it was the performances of Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling that Citizens will take the most joy from.

Harry Kane has been a long-term target for Manchester City, with the club in need of striking reinforcements following the departure of Sergio Aguero to Barcelona. Kane, for his part, is keen on the move, having already handed in a transfer request.

A slow start to the European Championships had some calling for his head, but three goals in his last 2 games will have firmly removed the weight from his shoulders, and should allow him to continue his scoring into the next game.

On the other hand, there has been speculation that Raheem Sterling may be leaving the Etihad Stadium in the weeks to come. If this does prove to be the case, the Englishman has certainly added significant value to any transfer fee.

Three goals at the European Championships to date, plus a glorious assist for Harry Kane’s opener against Ukraine, has demonstrated that Sterling’s poor end to the season was just a blip, and he is quickly becoming the main man for England.

In the works?

It has been a quiet few days for Manchester City on the transfer speculation front, with many of their targets (both incoming and outgoing) still on holiday or representing their country at Euro2020.

It does feel like, for Pep and his team, the window is just beginning
