Ronaldo issues statement on ‘disrespectful’ rumours

Cristiano Ronaldo says he has been the subject of disrespectful transfer rumours linking him away from Juventus as he issued a strong statement to clarify his position.

Both Manchester United and Manchester City have been loosely linked with moves for Ronaldo, although neither club were ever likely to try and sign the 36-year-old.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had to publicly deny that his side were interested in re-signing Ronaldo on Tuesday, and the Portuguese forward later took to Instagram to set out his stance.

Referring to links with Real Madrid, as well as “a number of clubs in many different leagues”, Ronaldo sought to confirm that there is no truth in any recent speculation over his future.

He wrote:

“Anyone who knows me is aware of how focused I am on my work. Less talk and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the start of my career.

“However, in view of everything that’s been said and written recently, I have to set out my position.”
