Manchester United 27-man squad for Surrey training camp revealed – Manchester Evening News

Manchester United have named a 27-man squad for this week’s training camp in Surrey.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken his squad down south for the week ahead of their second pre-season fixture against Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

United began their summer schedule with a 2-1 victory over Derby County on Sunday courtesy of goals from Tahith Chong and Facundo Pellistri.

Solskjaer used 23 players in total for the victory at Pride Park and will be calling upon a similarly strong squad in the build-up to their next friendly encounter on Saturday.

United’s training camp squad has been bolstered by the return of Daniel James and Scott McTominay following their participation in the European Championship.

James impressed as Wales reached the last 16 of Euro 2020 while McTominay shone in a defensive role as Scotland failed to make it out of the group stage of another major tournament.

With a number of fellow internationals still away on their summer holidays Solskjaer will once again turn to the club’s illustrious academy by giving plenty of game time to teenage hopefuls this week.

Joe Hugill made his senior debut in the win over Derby and is part of the squad for the week in Surrey, along with fellow U23 stars Hannibal Mejbri, Will Fish and Shola Shoretire.

Dean Henderson does not travel despite recently returning to Carrington as he recovers from a hip injury.

United training camp squad: Nathan Bishop, Lee Grant, Tom Heaton, Matej Kovar; Di’Shon Bernard, Will Fish, Teden Mengi, Alex Telles, Axel Tuanzebe, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Brandon Williams; Andreas Pereira, Ethan Galbraith, James Garner, Hannibal, Daniel James, Dylan Levitt, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Facundo Pellistri; Tahith Chong, Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood, Joe Hugill, Shola Shoretire.
