United ‘ahead of competition’ to sign Camavinga
Manchester United are ‘ahead of the competition’ in the hunt to sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to reports.
French newspaper L’Equipe states that United’s interest in the teenager is not dependent on Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford, with the World Cup winner’s future under scrutiny as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have been attributed with an interest in landing Pogba but, crucially, a move for Camavinga could happen even if Pogba remains at the club.
It’s said a fee of around €40m would be enough for Rennes to accept a sale, with the Ligue 1 side set to accept Camavinga’s departure as he too is in the final year of his contract.
Real Madrid and PSG are widely reported to be in the hunt for the 18-year-old, who is widely recognised as one of the finest young players breaking through right now.
