A busy summer of transfer activity is expected at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea appear to be wasting little time in looking to get their wheels in motion.
After defeating Manchester City 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League final almost a fortnight ago in Porto, the Blues, who will discover their fixture list for the 2021/22 Premier League campaign in less than a week’s time, are now looking to put plans in place for the summer transfer window, which officially opened yesterday.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel is understood to be keen on signing three new players, bolstering the right wing-back position, central-midfield berth and up front, with Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland, who is reportedly ‘interested’ in a move to Stamford Bridge, his top target.
As well as showing serious levels of interest in Haaland, Chelsea are also believed to be keen on signing Inter Milan star Achraf Hakimi. Yesterday, according to Sky Sports, the Blues lodged a £56.1million bid for the Morocco international, matching the offer tabled by French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain.
That has provided clear proof that Chelsea, who have ambitions of winning the Premier League title next season, are in no mood to mess around, with Marina Granovskaia already targeting the next deal.
According to reports by La Nacion in Paraguay, Chelsea have made an ‘enquiry’ about Palmeiras centre-back Gustavo Gomez. They claim that sources close to the player have confirmed that the Blues have shown an interest in the Paraguay international and would like to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Although strengthening the centre-back position is not thought to be a top priority for Tuchel this summer, it is possible that they will look to replace Fikayo Tomori, who is on the cusp of sealing a move to AC Milan on a permanent basis, although they have Marc Guehi available to them following his successful loan spell at Swansea City.

Gomez joined Palmeiras initially on loan from Milan in 2018 before making the move a permanent one a year later.
He has already enjoyed plenty of success with the Brazilian outfit, helping them win the Brazilian title, Brazilian cup and Copa Libertadores.
It is claimed that Chelsea will ‘have to pay millions’ if they are to pursue a deal.
Considering the Blues are keen on landing Hakimi and Haaland, as well as England international Declan Rice, it remains to be seen just how far their transfer budget will take them.
