Brazilian female soccer star Marta Vieira da Silver has paid a glowing tribute to her former national team coach Oswaldo Avalrez who died at the age 63.
The death of Avalrez was announced yesterday and Marta, captain of Brazil’s senior women’s side, wrote on her official Instagram page that Avalrez “lived life in a way that was worth it.”
She wrote: “You knew how to live life in a way that was worth it. I am proud to have lived wonderful moments by your side and also to have the chance to learn so much.”
Known as Vadāo in his native home, Alvarez died in a Sao Paulo hospital, having been treated for liver cancer recently.
