Welcome to the United On My Mind daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the best Manchester United stories that you might have missed.
Old Trafford is set for a winter raid amid Antonio Conte’s growing interest in Dean Henderson as Paris Saint-Germain step up their advances on Paul Pogba.
Meanwhile, United feel the effects of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s poor form prior to his sacking as Real Madrid star snubs move.
Spurs target Henderson
Tottenham have shortlisted Henderson ahead of the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail .
The report claims that Antonio Conte is keen on making the 24-year-old goalkeeper his first signing as the Italian scours the market for Hugo Lloris’ successor in north London.
Spanish newspaper Fichajes have added that Henderson, who has made just a single senior appearance this season, is keen on seeking a permanent move away from United following the resurgence of David De Gea.
Our view: I completely understand Henderson’s reasoning behind wanting a move; he’s young, promising and needs game time.
If he was 34 instead of 24 then his current game time would be somewhat reasonable but he isn’t, so it’s not.
Real Madrid star snubs United switch
Federico Valverde remains etched onto the United transfer shopping list but the 23-year-old midfielder has vowed his future to Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The renowned transfer specialist claimed that despite the Red Devils’ growing interest Valverde only sees his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“There is no way that Fede Valverde is leaving Real Madrid to sign with Manchester United. He is very happy at Real Madrid and has recently won a new contract,” Romano said.
Introducing… United On My Mind
Just like you, we can’t get enough of Manchester United! That’s why we’ve decided to supplement our expansive United coverage on the Manchester Evening News with a more fan-oriented platform catered specifically to United fans – United On My Mind.
Writers and presenters who share your passion for the red side of Manchester will be producing written, visual and audio content to reflect the mood in the stands as well as the press box.
Our view: United would’ve done well to secure Valverde’s services and I’m not surprised he’s snubbed at Old Trafford move, purely because of the uncertainty at the club.
Once United set the record straight with a new manager, some healthy form and a revitalised project, maybe this is then the signing to revisit.
Pogba begins PSG talks
PSG have opened talks to prise Pogba away from Old Trafford, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo .
The report claims that the 28-year-old midfielder, who joined United in 2016 for an eye-watering £89 million, has no intention of extending his contract that expires at the end of the season..
Mundo Deportivo adds that Pogba is considering the Parisian side’s offer amid his interest in returning to home soil.
Our view: One month I think Pogba is the best midfielder in the world, the next he draws blanks; he’s the true definition of class is permanent form is temporary.
He’d be a big miss for United but I think it’d be better for parties to clear the air. He can either stay and fully commit himself to the club’s next project or move and be fondly remembered.
It’s an interesting proposition though to hit the headlines amid Mauricio Pochettino’s links to the United job.
