Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal labelled ‘ordinary’ as Graeme Souness delivers top four claim – Football.London

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Tuesday, December 21.

Crooks claim

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Garth Crooks has labelled Arsenal ‘ordinary’ in a damning rant.

Writing for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “Arsenal fans will know what I think of this talent. He’s the best thing I’ve seen since I saw Arsenal’s David Rocastle burst onto the scene at Highbury.

“Saka was brilliant against West Ham and even better against Leeds and the difference between the two teams in both matches. He is the most consistent Arsenal player at the club and has been for the last season and a half – and the reason Arsenal find themselves flying high.

“I can’t understand how such an ordinary team keeps getting these results. It’s unbearable.”

Souness praise

Liverpool icon Graeme Souness has claimed that Arsenal are currently the fourth-best team in the Premier League, ranking them above the likes of Manchester United and Spurs.

“Right now they’re [Arsenal] the best of the rest. The front three for me are considerably better than any of the other teams,” Souness said on Sky Sports after the game.

“But I’m sat between Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, maybe West Ham will think they’d be in that argument as well.

“Fourth is within their reach [for Arsenal] but we’re only halfway through the season. They have to improve on their away form, that’s not good enough.

“We’ve seen when they went to Liverpool a couple of weeks ago that the level that Liverpool play at and where [Arsenal] are right now is considerably different.

“Yeah they have a chance of being fourth but Spurs will be in that argument, Man U will be in that argument, and West Ham I think can cause problems to anyone they play.”

Saka magic

Arsenal fans took to social media after spotting Bukayo Saka’s piece of magic during the 4-1 win against Leeds United at the weekend.

A video clip onReddit showed Saka gliding through the Yorkshire-based club’s defence before performing a wonderfully-disguised dummy that saw two Leeds players fall to the ground.

Outrageous_Fill3231 said: “Sensational.”

Masson011 said: “If he can get some more goals in his game hes going to be world class. Hope he can take inspiration from Salah. They both move with the ball in a similar way.”

fists_of_ham said: “His balance and acceleration are incredible.”
