Northern Ladies forward, Mukarama Abdulai bagged in two awards; Women’s Footballer of the Year and Future Star of the Year at the 2019 Ghana Football Awards.

The 17-year-old brushed off competition from Grace Asantewaa and Janet Egyir to emerge Women’s Footballer of the Year and again saw off a tight competition from Police Ladies’ Grace Animah in the race for the 2019 Ghana Football Awards Future Star Award.

Despite a tough competition from other female competitors, the Black Maidens captain’s 7 goals at the 2018 FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup, Uruguay and finishing the world cup as third best player following the Black Maidens quarter finals exit were still enough to see her cap the night with two awards.

She’s currently Ghana’s all-time top scorer in the U-17 world cup, scoring 7 goals in a single tournament usurping Jane Ayiyem’s 6 goals which spanned in 2 competitions in Canada 2012 and Japan 2014.

With three nominations on the night, the Footballer of the Year award which was won by Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey was the only award she missed out on.

In attendance on the night was other star female footballers like; 2018 Women’s Footballer of the Year Princella Adubea, Sea Lions’ Blessing Agbomadzie and Black Queens goalkeeper Fafali Dumehasi.
