After amassing one point out of a possible nine, captain of Western region heavyweights, Perpetual Agyekum, is adamant about the chances of her side in making it to the next phase of the special competition organized by the Normalization Committee.
Hasaacas, were the favorites in Group C but the ‘Ladies-in-green’ have failed to live up to their high expectations, losing their first two games and picking up just a point in the last game of the first round.
Despite boasting of experienced players and a seasoned tactician in Yusif Basigi, the giants from the west have been literally asleep in the ongoing competition.
Perpetual Agyekum, a member of the Black Queens side that toured the country before the start of the AWCON, rued her side’s wastefulness and indecision in front of goal.
“Yes, we had a lot of chances but unfortunately we failed to score.”
Skipper of the side, Perpetual Agyekum is however adamant about the chances of the three-time winners of the National Women’s League. Speaking to NB Sports she said,
“Yes, we think if we train hard we will qualify from the group.”
Hasaacas Ladies are in a precarious situation after accruing just a single point in three games, and will have a mountainous task to qualify from Group C, with Sea Lions and Soccer Intellectuals tied on top with five points each.
