The duel to occupy the positions of the technical crew of Osun Babes Football Club of Oshogbo, has become concentrated as intense lobby for posts which became vacant at the end of the last season after the club management sacked the Liadi Bashir led crew.
The team’s management has received applications from no less than twenty-seven (27) coaches which includes three names of top former coaches in the league.
The Omoluabi Queen had in October confirmed the appointment of Mike Ekpeyong as the team’s new head coach, with former Taraba Queens Manager Adewale Olatunji, appointed as assistant to Ekpeyong alongside former Osun Babes forward, Olayinka Adunola.
Segun Awopetu, Kehinde Salami and Wakili Daramola were retained as Goalkeeper trainer, Welfare Officer and Curator respectively.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the State of Osun, Hon. Yemi Lawal Azeez, last week ordered that a fresh interview session for new technical crew and backroom staff ahead of the 2019/2020 NWPL season.
Reports in the media revealed that three renowned coaches are in pipeline for the coveted head coach job, with former Head Coach Bayelsa Queens and Ibom Angel, Mike Ekpeyong, topping the list with former Delta Queens and FCT Queens coach, George Emenetie, while former Confluence Queens coach Maja Nayashi also listed among the coaches shortlisted.
Meanwhile, Ekpeyong and Emenetie are front liners favoured to secure the job, but the club supporters are pressing for Coach Ekpeyong who they claimed is the best among the coaches shortlisted.
Other coaches who applied for the job are former head coach Liadi Bashir, Abdulrazak Abdul Azeez, Jimoh among others.
Interview session for selected candidates earlier scheduled for Thursday December 5, was postponed to Friday December 6, 2019 at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Abere by 10.am.
Former Coach of the Super Eagles, FIFA and CAF technical instructor, Chief Adegboyega Onigbinde, as been appointed to head the three man interview committee.
